There was a front page article in today's Houston Chronical. The objective of the pollution reduction program is to reduce nitrogen oxide content in the air from approximately 650 tons down to approximately 250 tons by the year 2007.
Additional proposals that I did not mention before include:
1. reducing the speed limit from 70 to 55 ( Houston highways typcially run at 75mph when given half a chance)
2. requiring a certain % of employees to car pool or take public transportation at the city's largest companies.
3. forcing people to junk their junk cars that pollute.
